Larvulous' Return

Larvulous, Gadfly of Nurgle pushed open the gnarlmaw's jaws, climbed out, and dusted the rich, cloying soil from his robe.  He yanked on his chain and dragged his nurgling peon from its rest in Nurgle's garden.

"Aww, boss, I was nappin'," the nurgling sassed.  His insubordination was met with a firm backhand from Larvulous.  Two plaguebearers followed him out of the gnarled tree's gaping maw.

He held up a single jagged finger motioning to his cohort to move quietly.  There were enemies nearby.  He climbed to the top of a nearby dragonfate dias to survey his surroundings and saw the interlopers.  A gaggle of foul Seraphon was moving through the brutal carnivorous undergrowth not too far away.  Larvulous began to gurgle quietly  and at the peak of the gurgling unleashed a crackling bolt of blightning.  Over the course of the next few minutes, they dispatched of the Seraphon scum.  His plaguebearer underlings took a beating, but that's what they're for, right?
Several days later, the plagueband found their true target, a Death Sun of Shyish, floating unattended in the Realm of Life.  This would be a powerful gift for Grandfather Nurgle, but it was looking a bit emaciated, maybe the should feed it first.  When the seraphon who had been harrying them ever since they manifested in this place appeared across the clearing from them, Larvulous knew what had to be done.

His troops (now joined by King Barl the Barbaric and a grotesque horseman by the name of Thrax) surged forward to fight for control of the Death Sun, but they were grossly outnumbered.  Despite their making short work of the skinks and sauruses, the Death Sun turned on them, draining the life violently from on of his plaguebearers.  The remaining seraphon broke and ran, leaving Larvulous all alone with a Death Sun with a taste for the Nurgletouched.  His mission had failed, but he would not go back to Grandfather Nurgle empty-handed, there must be something good he can find in this place.

On Saturday, I got some battles in using the new Skirmish supplement from White Dwarf.  We actually played through the full 6 battleplan campaign, but I didn't get pictures of each battle.  It's a lot like the old Skirmish rules with a very few exceptions.  One thing that I was a bit torn about is that it recommended starting at 150 Renown (which are just regular points now).  At 150 Renown, my starting warband was a Herald and two Plaguebearers (I eventually added a Blight King and a Marauder Horseman).  It was tiny and silly at times, but the small size was what allowed us to play through the whole campaign in only a few hours, so I did appreciate that about it.  Also, after the first battle (which really was tiny and silly) it did pick up with some interested strategic maneuvering and tricky decision making, so I can't really knock it too much.
