The Plaguesworn Hunt

This project taught me a few things about fattening up lithe, muscular models.  I chunked them up by adding green stuff to the thighs and underarms.

Throwback Thursday: inq28

I've lately been really inspired by all of the great blanchitsu, inq28, and aos28 stuff I see online.  I love making bizarre conversions, and am trying to broaden my horizons with regard to painting styles, so it's fun to see what other people are doing.  However, I'm actually no newcomer to inq28.  I bought the Inquisitor rulebook when it came out (I was a high school freshman) and played a fair bit of it with my brother.  I also had the Daemon Hunters and Witch Hunters army books and was inspired by the conversions sections in the back of them.

Anyhow, I dug out some of my old warband models and got photos of them!  They're not great, I was like... 16, but it's kind of fun to see what i was up to all the way back then.

This first picture is of Inquisitor Heep (a play on Uriah Jacobus), a weird servitor thing I made, a Necromunda ganger, and a zealot.

Shadespire: Slaugrik's Exiles

Slaugrik detested this place.  It disgusted him and left him unsettled.  A city of death went against everything the new god stood for.  It was static and cold, rather than caught in an endless cycle of death and rebith.  He never thought he would, but tonight, he wished for the corrosive skies of his homeport, Barak Thag.

AnimosityI

Last weekend I ran one of the many Animosity events that took place around the world.  You can read up on it at www.animositycampaigns.com if you're interested in learning more, but I'll review some of its interesting facets below!

The Soulless Sea pt.3 - Pirates!

Got this map from a wizened duardin, claimed to have been born before chaos took the realms, not that I'd believe an old pirate.  Anyhow, a story come with it, one that was too good to be true, but it might just be.

Larvulous' Return

Larvulous, Gadfly of Nurgle pushed open the gnarlmaw's jaws, climbed out, and dusted the rich, cloying soil from his robe.  He yanked on his chain and dragged his nurgling peon from its rest in Nurgle's garden.

"Aww, boss, I was nappin'," the nurgling sassed.  His insubordination was met with a firm backhand from Larvulous.  Two plaguebearers followed him out of the gnarled tree's gaping maw.

The Soulless Sea pt.1

I'm attempting to organize a nautical themed Game Day for May set off the coast of Eucebium in the Soulless Vortex.  I still haven't pinned down all of the rules yet (although I'll share some beta rules in this post), but I have finished making my first batch of ships for the event.

Archduke Marrow-Gnawer’s Royal Guard

Another day, another Shadespire warband.  I've actually done all of the season 1 warbands except for Ironskull's Boyz now!  (I haven't bought them yet, but I have plans to convert them into a Nurgle warband)  This time I've transformed the Skaven warband into Flesh-eater Courts.

Bar-Zhagg’s Grot Slaves

The dawi zharr Daemonsmith Bar-Zhagg has been on a slave capturing mission in the Painted Spires of Efengie.  He and his enforcer Druzgul have managed to collect 5 grot slaves and 2 squigs to accompany them on their quest in the damned city of Shadespire.

Magore’s Fiends

I knew I wanted to get Magore's Fiends because my favorite warband to play so far has been Gor-rek's Reavers.  I didn't actually have a plan in mind for these guys when I bought them, but it didn't take me long to stumble across something fun.  I was just dry fitting bitz, trying to decide between mutation, or nurglifying them, or carving them down and putting Bretonian heads on them when I dry fitted an extra Great Unclean One tongue to Magore's gaping belly, and then moved it up to his head!  I was sold on the idea, and went from there.

Sepulchral Guard

Continuing my quest to convert all of the Shadespire warbands, here is my take on the Sepulchral Guard.  Mine are an extension of the Cursed Company from the Regiments of Renown of the olden times.  I used the Skulls box to do head swaps on everyone except for the petitioners.  So the Prince of Dust is a Plaguebearer, the Champion is a Beastman, the Reaper is a bird-person of some kind, and the Warden is a Bloodletter.

Leish Maniasis

Leish was actually the founding member of the Shepherds of Rot.  Upon coming of age, he left his barbarian tribe to wander the Mortal Realms with his trusty hounds.  Leish has a relatively gentle and personable demeanor, and as he traveled he found other misfit children of Nurgle who decided to accompany him on his journey.

Leish's truest calling is to his hounds, Mange and Flybait, but he feels an affinity toward all of the grotesque beasts that are beloved to Nurgle.

The Flames of Penitence

Having recently acquired Nightvault, I've got a new warband up and running!  I've made a Dark Age of Sigmar inspired conversion of Averon's Cursebreakers.

The White Scarstriders

Continuing on with my series of ridiculous conversions for Shadespire warbands, here is Veteran Sergeant Sanson Farstrider and his White Scars battle brothers.  They have answered Sigmar's call for aid, been issued Mk. S power armour, and are now on the hunt in the dead city of Shadespire.

A Song of Ice and Fire: House Bolton

I received my A Song of Ice and Fire Miniatures Game kickstarter pledge a few weeks ago, and so far I've played two battles against grownups (a few against my 4yo son though) and painted the House Bolton forces.

Here are some characters you might recognize.  First up are Ramsay Snow and Reek.

Maggoth Lords

I recently picked up a Maggoth Lord kit and being the cheapskate that I am decided to build all three!  I magnetized the torsos so that they can be hotswapped.  What's more, not being content to just have swappable bodies, I also made two magnetized sets of legs for them to stand on when they're not riding a Maggoth.

Coalescence: Desolation of Eristrat

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of running Coalescence: Desolation of Eristrat.  It was a one-day global event that was a tree campaign (3 rounds, 7 battleplans).  It followed up last year's Coalescence Global Narrative Event, in which the godbeast Eristrat was freed from its extra-dimensional prison and attuned to the will of Chaos.  You can find the event pack at NEON's blog if you're interested in playing the battleplans.

Gor-rek's Reavers

I've finished a third Shadespire warband!  I'm still figuring out what wacky conversion to do with my Sepulchral Guard, but for the moment, here is my Khorngor warband (otherwise known as Bloodreavers).

Rotbelly

Zharr Goroth whips bit into Rotbelly's hide.  They drove him forward, into a blackiron cage to be loaded onto one of their massive daemon engines.  The Daemon Whisperer stepped forward, raised his left hand, and gazed into Rotbelly's soul.  Rotbelly felt an unnatural sense of calm wash over him.  Before he even noticed what was happening, the cage was slammed shut, and he was being carted across the countryside, black smog belching from the engine's daemoniac smokestacks.
